Related positions are contingent on board approval. The primary role of the Educational Specialist within Specialized Services is to ensure that students with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living. Special Education is more effective when it demonstrates high expectancies for students with disabilities by ensuring their access to the general education curriculum in the least restrictive environment. It is also important that the rights of students with disabilities and parents of such students are protected. The Educational Specialist ensures that parent requests and concerns involving students with disabilities are received, investigated and responded to/resolved in a timely manner to improve educational results for students with disabilities.
