About the College/Unit/Department
The lab is in the new UGA Interdisciplinary STEM research building and is funded by competitive grants including several NIH R01s, DoD, and CDC. Our lab's interdisciplinary research focused on the interface of materials, chemistry, bioengineering, biology, and medicine. Our current research focuses on biomaterials, polymer science, blood-surface interactions, antimicrobial surfaces, antifouling surface, and controlled delivery of therapeutic agents (e.g., nitric oxide). We design novel biomaterials and study their applications in medicine and other relevant fields.

Our lab is comprised of an interdisciplinary team including scientists, engineers, and clinicians who aim to study the biocompatibility of medical devices (e.g., insulin delivery systems, catheters, extracorporeal circulation, hemocompatibility, and antimicrobial surfaces). We conduct translational research in an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration, fosters innovative discoveries, and expedites the translation of these findings to clinical technologies to improve quality of life
