The Department of English and Creative Writing in the College of Arts and Sciences at Widener University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Professor of English (first-year writing). Applicants must have experience teaching first-year writing and be dedicated to working collaboratively in a department and university that values diversity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Teaching a three-course load in Fall 2024 (ENGL 101 and or ENGL 102, depending on need)
  • Creating syllabi and assignments designed to hone writing, research, and critical thinking skills
  • Emphasizing writing as a process through peer review, actionable feedback on drafts, student-instructor conferences, etc.
  • Evaluation of student work based on course goals


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • MA or above in English or above in English, Rhetoric/Composition, Creative Writing, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching first-year writing courses at the college level (composition, literature surveys)


The appointment is for the Fall 2024 semester (beginning in August), with the possibility of additional opportunities in Spring 2025 and beyond.
