Essential Job Duties
The Department of Accounting in the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting, with an anticipated start date of August 2027. The department welcomes applications from both emerging scholars entering their first faculty appointment and experienced Assistant Professors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a high-quality, impactful research program in accounting resulting in publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and consistent with the expectations of an R1 research university.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in accounting at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the Master of Accounting (MAC) and MBA programs.
  • Contribute to teaching needs in areas such as managerial accounting, auditing, accounting information systems, analytics, artificial intelligence, and related areas.
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the department, college, and university through service and professional engagement.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty and contribute to a collegial, intellectually engaging, and interdisciplinary academic environment.
  • Engage with students, faculty, and other stakeholders in ways that advance the teaching, research, and service missions of the department.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D., or will complete the requirements for the degree by Fall of 2027, in Accounting or a closely related field.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Expertise in accounting through relevant education, professional experience, teaching, or scholarly work.
  • Capacity to teach accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in one or more areas, including managerial accounting, auditing, information systems, analytics, or AI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, reflected in the ability to explain complex accounting concepts clearly through written work, presentations, or other professional activities.
  • Ability to contribute to departmental, college, and university service through committee work, academic initiatives, or related activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established record of scholarly research and publication, or clear potential to develop one.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Research, teaching, and service interests that complement the Accounting Department's academic programs and initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and other academic or professional partners.
  • Relevant professional accounting experience or credentials, such as CPA certification.
