The Department of Pathology is recruiting for a temporary Motor Vehicle Operator II to, under general supervision, perform a variety of courier-related tasks. The courier is responsible for pickup and delivery of all patient care supplies and specimens according to a schedule and route or as dispatched. Judgment is used in proper handling of specimens/cargo to maintain specimen and supply integrity. This will primarily be a route from Medical Center University and Medical Center Downtown, with occasional routes to Medical Center North Liberty to provide emergent courier needs, driving a University of Iowa vehicle. Anticipated hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, and Wednesday and Friday from 3:15 pm - 7:15 pm. Hourly rate of pay will be $18.49. Duties include (but are not limited to): * Specimen and supply pick up. * Supply and specimen delivery. * Drive according to all laws in the State of Iowa. * Service vehicle. * Communications and dispatch. BASIC/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to read, write and follow instructions is required. 2. Valid driver's license and ability to meet The University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard are required. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to make sound judgments and decisions is desired. 2. Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing operation of state vehicles is desired. 3. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assisted device; above 40 lbs. with assisted device.
