POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES The Electrical Engineering Manager plays a key role in the successful execution of projects and leadership of staff. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed - both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also create and contribute to a dynamic team environment by leading a group of electrical staff and fostering a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also actively support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Leads a team of electrical engineers and designers.
- Responsible for the growth of electrical staff by recruiting, on-boarding, mentoring and training employees.
- Accomplishes electrical staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, actively monitoring and appraising project results.
- Coaches, counsels and advocates for employees, promoting a culture of collaboration for KFI staff and ensuring accountability for our customers.
- Allocates department resources to assure effective utilization and development of staff.
- Ensures the development and coaching of the talent needed to meet current and future organization goals and provide personal growth opportunities for staff.
- Actively leads electrical projects, driving them to completion. This will require a combination of strong delegation and follow-up, combined with personal execution of work as needed.
- Develops detailed work plans, schedules and engineering budgets for the execution of electrical projects.
- Designs building electrical systems, including one or more of the following: medium voltage, 480-volt power generation, and power distribution systems.
- Designs power and lighting systems for healthcare and commercial facilities. This may include the design of special systems, such as ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, UPS, etc.
- Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles including single-line diagrams, plans, schedules, schematics and details.
- Performs power system studies, including arc fault hazard analysis, short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination and harmonics studies, using SKM PTW.
- Active involvement during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
- Reviews and approves contractor submittals, conducts construction observation and provides field support during startup and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
- Develops labor/cost estimates for assigned scope of work, and is accountable for ensuring we stay within scope and budget.
- Committed participation in KFI marketing efforts - including attending conferences and trade shows, developing relationships with potential new customers and cooperatively contributing to internal marketing meetings.
- Supports the business development process through proposal writing, meeting with prospective customers, participating in project team interviews, etc.
- Provides work direction to other team members, including subcontractors, as assigned.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of electrical standards, specifications, tools and processes needed for the successful execution of projects.
- Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration.
- Minimum of 10+ years of post-graduation experience in electrical engineering.
- Extensive experience designing electrical systems for building infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc.).
- Possess an understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Structural Engineering construction practices.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory or people-management experience.
- Ability to anticipate the needs of project teams and individuals and proactively removing obstacles to support their success.
- Ability to monitor team members' work and establish personal accountability across direct reports and project team members.
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to present complex information to diverse audiences, synthesize ideas into actionable recommendations, and positively influence outcomes.
- Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with computer technology and business software, including Microsoft Office.
- Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare market segments is preferred.
- Experience in infrastructure design for healthcare facilities.
- Healthcare design experience, familiarity with FGI guidelines and NFPA 99.
Working Conditions
- Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.

Salary Range: $133,500 - $167,000 annually. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
