Job Summary
The Process Engineer develops, implements, and improves manufacturing processes to achieve production, quality, cost, and equipment investment targets. This role analyzes production operations, designs production line processes, evaluates technologies, and leads improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma, 5S, PFEP, and related manufacturing methodologies. The Process Engineer works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to support equipment launches, process validation, technical documentation, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on manufacturing process engineering experience and the ability to independently manage complex projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Define production process sequences and manufacturing methods to meet product cost, quality, equipment investment, and production targets.
• Design and optimize manual, semi-automated, and automated production line processes.
• Determine appropriate equipment, materials, components, labor requirements, and cycle times to support production goals.
• Develop labor routing and manufacturing process requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and related manufacturing documentation.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma, 5S, PFEP, Kanban, and other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and process variation.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and lead projects to improve productivity, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop implementation plans and ensure improvement projects meet established timelines, quality standards, and cost requirements.
• Evaluate production technologies and determine appropriate solutions based on production volume, process requirements, and business objectives.
• Define testing activities, approval criteria, and implementation plans for new process technologies.
• Review and approve internally and externally developed process designs.
• Conduct final process and equipment testing and validation.
• Support production during internal and external process and equipment startups.
• Develop action plans and provide training to maintenance and production personnel during process implementation.
• Analyze complex manufacturing problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Use process simulation and engineering tools to evaluate manufacturing processes and layouts.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders.
• Manage or coordinate engineering projects with significant operational impact.
• Collaborate with production, service, test, quality, maintenance, and other cross-functional teams.
• Travel to project locations as needed to support manufacturing and engineering activities.

Job Requirements

• 5-8 years of manufacturing process engineering experience required.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing process engineering, production line design, and process optimization.
• Experience designing manual, semi-automated, and automated production lines.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles, including waste reduction and process variation.
• Knowledge of 5S, PFEP, Kanban, and other lean manufacturing methodologies.
• Experience defining labor routing and manufacturing process requirements.
• Experience developing work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other technical process documentation.
• Experience selecting manufacturing technologies based on production volume, cost, quality, and equipment requirements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office preferred.
• Experience with FlexSim or equivalent manufacturing simulation software preferred.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to identify improvement opportunities and independently drive corrective actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.
• Ability to work onsite and travel approximately 10-15% as required by project needs.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required.

Work Experience

• 5-8 years of manufacturing industry experience required.
• Process engineering and production line design experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting manufacturing equipment launches, process validation, and continuous improvement preferred.
