EDA AI/ML Software Intern

At Keysight EDA, we're developing the next generation of AI-powered Electronic Design Automation (EDA) solutions to accelerate RFIC (Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit) and analog design workflows. By combining machine learning, optimization techniques, and domain expertise, we are transforming how engineers create schematics, layouts, parameterized cells (PCells), and circuit designs.

As an EDA AI/ML Software Intern, you will contribute to the development of intelligent design automation technologies used in professional semiconductor design environments. You will work with software engineers, AI researchers, and RFIC domain experts to explore innovative applications of AI across schematic generation, layout automation, device modeling, and design optimization workflows.

• Assist in prototyping and implementing AI/ML models for design automation workflows

• Develop, test, and refine software components in Python (and potentially C++/Rust under mentorship)

• Support integration of ML algorithms into Windows desktop applications

• Contribute to data preprocessing, model training, and evaluation pipelines

• Collaborate with team members in code reviews, debugging, and performance testing

• Learn and apply software engineering best practices in a professional environment

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master's or PHD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

• Strong programming skills in Python

• Familiarity with at least one ML/DL framework (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)

• Knowledge of core data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming

• Interest in systems programming and performance-aware development

• Exposure to at least one UI framework or visualization library (e.g., PySide6, Qt, matplotlib, or React)

• Familiarity with or interest in AI for RFIC and analog circuit design

• Familiarity with or interest in schematic generation and layout automation workflows

• Familiarity with parameterized cells (PCells), layout parameterization, or computational geometry concepts

• Exposure to surrogate modeling, optimization, design space exploration, or Bayesian optimization techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to generative AI, reinforcement learning, or agentic AI systems
• Coursework or projects involving RF, circuits, or EDA concepts

• Experience with C++ or Rust (coursework or projects)

• Exposure to software development on Windows or Linux platforms

• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems

• Interest in learning about multithreaded applications and desktop software development

• Curiosity and eagerness to work in an Agile, collaborative team environment

CA Pay Range

Master's: Min $40.32 to Max $43.42

PhD: Min $40.32 to Max $53.67
