Design Management Support Specialist

The Building People, LLC, has an opening for a Design Management Support Specialist to support facilities management operations. The position provides facility-related control systems and cybersecurity compliance support for existing systems and equipment and for Minor and Major facility projects. The role works with customer personnel, contractors, and vendors to sustain system security authorization, documentation, and reporting requirements in an active medical-facility environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide facility-related control systems support for existing systems, equipment, and Minor and Major Projects, including the Building Automation System, Infant Monitoring System, Door Access Control System, Fire Alarm System, and Elevator Controls System.
• Assist the Information System Security Manager or equivalent security lead in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of assigned facility information systems.
• Assist the customer with securing, managing, reviewing, and auditing technical settings required to maintain authority to operate and related system authorization requirements.
• Develop and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) supporting authorization and system lifecycle activities.
• Assist with Risk Management Framework (RMF) re-authorization when security-impacting changes occur and support development of new RMF packages.
• Coordinate with contractors, equipment vendors, customer stakeholders, and system owners to collect, validate, and submit required technical and cybersecurity information.
• Prepare detailed and complete weekly status reports for ongoing Minor and Major Projects.
• Attend customer-requested meetings and perform required site visits

Required Experience and Education

• Construction, engineering, facility controls, operational technology, or related technical experience sufficient to perform the assigned duties.
• Experience supporting facility-related control systems, such as building automation, access control, fire alarm, elevator controls, or comparable operational technology systems.
• Working knowledge of risk management framework processes, authorization maintenance, security controls, technical configuration review, and POA&M development.
• Ability to coordinate technical inputs across customer personnel, contractors, vendors, and system stakeholders.
• Ability to prepare accurate, detailed status reports and security authorization documentation.
• Experience or demonstrated ability to perform work in accordance with applicable facility-related control systems cybersecurity standards and guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, documentation, and issue-tracking skills.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to satisfy contract personnel-security, site-access, system-access, and credentialing requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation or other investigation level required for assigned access.

Preferred Experience and Education

• Experience supporting medical, institutional, or federal facilities.
• Hands-on experience with eMASS or comparable RMF/authorization workflow tools.
• Familiarity with Controlled Unclassified Information safeguarding and NIST SP 800-171 requirements.
• Experience with system lifecycle documentation, configuration management, audit evidence, vulnerability remediation tracking, and vendor submittal coordination.
• Knowledge of facility project delivery and the interfaces among construction, commissioning, controls integration, cybersecurity, and ongoing operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Facilities Management, Building Automation, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, certifications, and directly applicable experience.
