Manufacturing Supervisor

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily production activities while ensuring the safe, efficient, and quality-driven operation of the manufacturing department. This role directly supervises hourly production employees, drives performance to meet production goals, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

Production Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing operations to achieve production schedules and business objectives.
  • Monitor production performance, staffing levels, equipment utilization, and workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure production targets related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost are consistently met.
  • Identify and resolve production issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support operational success.

Employee Leadership and Development

  • Directly supervise, coach, and develop hourly production employees.
  • Conduct regular employee performance discussions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support employee training, onboarding, cross-training, and skill development initiatives.
  • Promote accountability and ensure employees understand performance expectations.
  • Address employee concerns and maintain positive employee relations.
  • Partner with Manager and Human Resources regarding performance management, corrective action, attendance management, and workforce planning.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety observations, audits, and investigations as needed.
  • Lead efforts to maintain a safe work environment and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained in equipment, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives and corrective actions.

Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure products meet established quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement Containment, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, efficiency, and employee engagement.
  • Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate departmental performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing and operational excellence activities.

Workforce Management

  • Plan and manage staffing requirements to meet production demands.
  • Monitor attendance, overtime, scheduling, and labor utilization.
  • Maintain accurate production and personnel documentation.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-focused work environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business, Management, Engineering, or related field. (This role needs to be a feeder role for Manufacturing Manager position)
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience managing hourly employees in a production environment.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or operational excellence initiatives preferred.
  • Strong leadership and employee coaching skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance production demands while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, labor management, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems (ERP/MRP preferred).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25-50lbs
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach
  • Ability to use hands repetitively for grasping, handling, and manipulating parts or tools
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and dust
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or platforms as needed
  • Ability to visually inspect parts and equipment, including close-up work and reading gauges/screens

  • Ability to hear and respond to alarms, signals, and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment andmaintainphysical stamina
  • Ability tomaintainbalance and coordination while working around equipment and materials
  • Employees must be medically able to safely perform the essential functions of the position and comply with all site safety requirements. Individuals with implanted medical devices, including pacemakers or other devices that may be affected by magnetic fields, electromagnetic equipment, or process-related hazards present in the powder firing area, may be restricted from entering designated work zones.

Our Manufacturing Supervisor will earn variable compensation including base salary and annual bonus. Base salary range takes into consideration experience, education, and training. Not to mention all the amazing benefits available for employee selection as well.
