Minimum Qualifications	High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications	2-3 years' experience in a sign shop or equivalent. Knowledge of vinyl graphic preparation and installation, Experience installing posted in-ground outdoor signs.
Position Summary	The position is a technical and manual labor position under general supervision with sign installation, production, and maintenance responsibilities for a large facility. The position will familiarize themselves with UGA Sign Shop Standards in order to fabricate and install signs for UGA and extension campuses as per specifications as well as work with shop team members and other FMD shops to facilitate the production of UGA campus standard signage. The position will have excellent communication skills due to interaction with customers, students, and campus visitors. Duties include application of vinyl lettering and confirming the accuracy of the message contained in the sign. In addition, installing wood, metal, or plastic signs and performing related work. All duties should be performed as per approved campus design standards. Other duties include maintaining and repairing existing signs, applying letters and for glass doors, maintenance and installation of traffic control devices such as signage and pedestrian markers and supporting other team members in fulfilling work orders as needed. Ideally the incumbent should have a good knowledge of: proficient use of power and hand tools, vinyl graphics and lettering used in sign making and be able to discern when traffic safety signage needs repair, replacement or updating. If updating is needed, document and communicate this to your supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies	Knowledge of the layout of UGA main campus such as where specific buildings are located. Knowledge of standard practices, material, methods, and equipment used to UGA's Sign Shop Knowledge of preparing & applying vinyl graphics. Knowledge and skill in using tools and materials for the production and outdoor installation of signage plus indoor vinyl installation on glass surfaces. Ability to mix concrete. Ability to mentor new or less skilled team members. Above average written and verbal communication skills to be capable of discerning sign copy accuracy Ability to work well with people of all levels, such as faculty, staff, students and all co-workers. Ability to function effectively as a team member supporting other team members in fulfilling work orders as needed. Ability to perform quality work efficiently This position requires driving motor vehicles and/or operating machinery as an essential function of the job.

Duties/Responsibilities

Works with supervisor, customers, and other FMD shops to assemble, and install signs as per UGA Standard standards.
Confirm that sign copy is accurate
Weed and apply vinyl graphics to signs and glass surfaces in the field.
Assist the Sign Shop Specialist in sign production and outdoor sign installation.
Maintain, clean & repair signs in the field.
* Support Sign Shop Team members in fulfilling Sign Shop work orders and duties.
Clean, straighten, replace faded signs, advise supervisor via email when signs are needed for replacements (Stop Signs, Pedestrian signs, etc.)
Remove graffiti, stickers and adhesive residue.
Report and remove non-sanctioned messages on campus; check with supervisor or manager regarding non-sanctioned messages.
While out in the field, report if a pedestrian crossing may need to be added- if so report this to your supervisor.
Maintain traffic control devices, pedestrian crosswalk markers and traffic control signage and immediately replace when missing
Report and remove unauthorized grafitti
This position requires driving motor vehicles and/or operating machinery as an essential function of the job. Driving and machinery operation may account for up to 95% of the regular 40-hour work week to perform these essential job duties and operational tasks, and related work.

Duties/Responsibilities	Shop & Tool Maintenance: Maintain and properly store power tools and hand graphic tools See that state vehicle receives regularly scheduled maintenance or repairs Keep any state vehicle that you use tidy and top off fuel when it's down to half full. Secure vehicle and tools at the end of the work day Advise supervisor when supplies are low, tools are broken, or things need replaced
