Position Summary	The Assistant Equipment Mechanic performs skilled maintenance, diagnostic, troubleshooting, adjustment, and repair work on a diverse fleet of specialized golf course and turf maintenance equipment. Working in coordination with the Equipment Manager, this position independently performs preventive maintenance and routine to moderately complex repairs; diagnoses mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, gasoline-engine, and diesel-engine problems; determines appropriate repair methods and parts requirements; and performs precision maintenance of reel and rotary cutting units. The position exercises independent judgment in resolving common equipment problems and helps ensure that the golf course equipment fleet operates safely, efficiently, reliably, and at the performance level required to support daily golf course operations and championship-level playing conditions
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies	Considerable knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, methods, and techniques used in the maintenance and repair of golf course, turf, grounds, agricultural, or similar commercial equipment. Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drive systems, brakes, steering, and related mechanical components. Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify probable causes, determine appropriate repair procedures, and complete routine to moderately complex repairs with limited supervision. Knowledge of reel mower and rotary mower setup, adjustment, grinding, sharpening, and quality-of-cut principles. Skill in the safe use of grinders, lifts, air tools, hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other specialized shop equipment. Ability to read and apply equipment service manuals, parts diagrams, maintenance schedules, specifications, and technical information. Ability to identify replacement parts and materials needed for repairs and communicate equipment condition and repair needs to the Equipment Manager. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and service records and track scheduled service intervals. Ability to organize work, prioritize assigned repairs, work independently on routine assignments, and coordinate effectively with the Equipment Manager and golf course maintenance staff. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, reliable, high-quality equipment performance.
Physical Demands	Work requires frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in and around equipment; lifting and moving equipment, parts, and materials up to approximately 50 pounds; safely operating shop tools, lifts, grinders, machinery, and golf course equipment; and performing work both indoors and outdoors in varying and occasionally adverse weather conditions.

Duties/Responsibilities	Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on the golf course equipment fleet. Inspect equipment; complete lubrication, fluid and filter changes, adjustments, and component checks; identify developing mechanical problems; and help ensure equipment is maintained according to established service intervals and operational needs.

Duties/Responsibilities	Perform precision service, setup, adjustment, and upkeep of specialized turf cutting equipment, including reel mowers, bedknives, rotary mowers, and related cutting units. Grind and sharpen reels, bedknives, and rotary blades; make reel-to-bedknife and cutting-height related adjustments; evaluate cutting-unit condition and performance; and correct routine quality-of-cut issues.

Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform routine to moderately complex repairs involving gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drive systems, brakes, steering, and related components without fabricating or altering the original equipment design. Determine repair requirements, identify needed replacement parts and materials, complete repairs within assigned authority, test equipment for proper operation, and communicate complex or unusual repair needs to the Equipment Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities	Maintain accurate maintenance and service records; document completed work and identified equipment concerns; assist with tracking scheduled service intervals and parts needs; and maintain the equipment maintenance facility, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
