Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Controls Specialist.

In this role, the successful candidate will monitor and analyze HVAC and building automation systems to ensure safe and comfortable facilities, optimized for lowest energy usage. They execute building automation system upgrades, optimization of programming, training, and troubleshooting and repairs. They also provide support to the energy management program.

Job Responsibilities:

I . ENERGY MANAGEMENT

1. Perform support, analysis, and reporting of the School and Hospitals energy conservation and management initiatives.
2. Upgrades HVAC controls programming and user interfaces to optimize energy performance, improve indoor comfort conditions, and enhance system ease of use.
3. Participate in and enhance a continuous monitoring based commissioning program to monitor and analyze the performance and energy efficiency of HVAC and building automation systems.

II. HVAC AND CONTROL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

1. Responsible for building automation system programming and user interface modifications including HVAC programming, graphical interface development, smart alarming development and auto-commissioning systems.
2. Responsible for the safeguarding of the building automation systems servers and network hardware and database backups.
3. Performs software and firmware upgrades.
4. Performs HVAC and building automation system troubleshooting and reporting.
5. Perform physical mechanical equipment room surveys to ensure that physical plant equipment is working properly and efficiently.
6. Oversees the execution of the building automation system alarm reduction program.
7. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all utility and engineering building systems and applicable codes and regulations.
8. Provides support for the commissioning process of MEP systems.

III. TRAINING AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT

1. Responsible for the development and management of an ongoing training program designed to develop in-house employees to be fully self sufficient in building automation system service and installation.
2. Works hands on in the field with trades people to reinforce classroom training.

IV. ATTENDANCE/RELIABILITY

1. Adheres to departmental guidelines concerning time, vacation, personal days and other paid/unpaid leaves.
1. Arrives on time for work and meetings.
2. Provides proper notification for absences or tardiness.

V. ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

1. Adheres to departmental Medical Center guidelines concerning safety, rules of conduct, etc. as outlined in the Employee Staff Handbook.
2. Maintains a professional appearance; wears identification badge at all times.

VI. General

1. Respond to emergency situations as required. Be available for emergency calls on a 24 hour basis (cell phone/beeper).
2. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree OR Associates degree in a technical field with equivalent experience
• 5 years experience in HVAC and building automation installation and service or equivalent experience
• HVAC and building automation systems experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
• Strong spreadsheet skills.
• Experience with working with unionized workforce

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Alerton and Automated Logic Corp. systems a big plus.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.93 - $145,897.01 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
