About the role The Retirement Pricing team is looking for an Actuary II to support the development and pricing of new products and features across our Fixed Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, and Registered Index-Linked Annuity product lines. In this role, you will use MG-ALFA and other analytical tools to evaluate product ideas, identify key risks, and perform the pricing analysis needed to bring competitive and sustainable products to market. You will analyze competitor products to assess market positioning and identify product features or design approaches that may help mitigate risk. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, develop analytical approaches, and proactively identify the next steps needed to move projects forward. Specific projects may include developing and enhancing MG-ALFA pricing models, establishing modeling assumptions, evaluating product profitability and risk under a range of scenarios, and partnering with stakeholders throughout the product-development process. What you'll do Support the development and pricing of new Fixed Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, and Registered Index-Linked Annuity products and features. Build, maintain, and enhance MG-ALFA pricing models. Develop modeling assumptions and perform profitability, sensitivity, and scenario analyses. Evaluate product ideas to identify key financial, actuarial, and policyholder-behavior risks. Analyze competitor products to assess market positioning and identify potential product-design or risk-mitigation opportunities. Interpret modeling results and clearly communicate key findings, risks, and tradeoffs. Take ownership of assigned work, develop appropriate analytical approaches, and proactively move projects forward. Collaborate with Product Development and other business partners throughout the product-development process. Improve pricing tools, processes, controls, and documentation. Check out our Symetra Benefits Overview Compensation Salary Range:$145,000-176,000 base salary plus eligibility for annual bonus programs Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a strong quantitative background, including college-level mathematics. Six to nine years of relevant actuarial experience. ASA designation required; may have an FSA designation. Experience with actuarial pricing, product development, or financial modeling. Hands-on experience building, maintaining, or enhancing models in MG-ALFA. Knowledge of Fixed Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, or Registered Index-Linked Annuity products is preferred. Ability to analyze competitor products and translate findings into insights about market positioning, product design, and potential risk-mitigation opportunities. Strong understanding of actuarial concepts, assumption development, profitability analysis, and risk assessment. Ability to take ownership of your work, develop analytical approaches, and move projects forward with appropriate guidance. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex modeling results. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to nontechnical audiences. Ability to collaborate effectively with actuarial and cross-functional business partners. Creativity and flexibility to recommend and implement improvements to models, tools, and processes.
