Lecturer in Business Ethics

The Walter H. Capps Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion, and Public Life and the Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is seeking to appoint an in-person, part-time Lecturer in Business Ethics to teach one course during the academic year 2026-2027. The candidate will be expected to teach a total of one course, an upper-division undergraduate class on "Business and Corporate Ethics," during the Fall, Winter, or Spring term.

The course will be concerned with instruction in the historic values and ethical principles of both Western and non-Western civilizations, and how these foundational principles bear upon responsible decision-making in a global world. Drawing upon the liberal arts tradition, the course will introduce students to diverse thinking on ethics, and how these principles can apply to complex decision making. Exposure to these modes of reflection will enhance ethical sensibility and provide an intellectual basis for addressing specific issues that CEOs and managers inevitably face.

An MA, MBA, JD, or PhD in Business Administration, Economics, Philosophy, or Religious Studies, or Similar Degree in a Related Field, is required by time of application.

Applicants who have 1 year or more of teaching experience. Applicants who have 3 years or more of professional experience in business or finance.

Applicants who have academic degrees and experience in the Humanities and in Business.
