We are a well-established, 100% Employee-Owned Commercial General Contractor seeking a well-rounded Construction Estimator to join our Tucson, Arizona office. In this role, you will turn conceptual designs and construction documents into competitive, precise, and well-planned project budgets. You will work directly with project owners, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal operations teams across a dynamic mix of regional commercial projects.

What Makes This Role Unique

• Diverse Market Portfolio: Work on a balanced mix of Higher Education (including key local university projects), Churches/Places of Worship, Non-Profit/Community, and Commercial builds.
• Agile, High-Volume Environment: Handle a quick-turnaround workflow (1 to 2-week turnarounds) on diverse project sizes up to $100M
• Full-Lifecycle Scope: Take true ownership of the full preconstruction process from early conceptual budgets through bid day, scope alignment, and handoff to operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptual & Design Estimating: Develop detailed schematic, design development, and construction document estimates, often working from early concepts or limited initial information.
• Scope & Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs, prepare detailed line-item cost estimates, review plans, specifications, addenda, and identify project risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Subcontractor Collaboration: Solicit, evaluate, reconcile, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure complete scope coverage.
• Bid Day Leadership: Coordinate bid-day activities, track incoming proposals, establish scope accuracy, and assemble final estimates/proposals.
• Full Project Ownership: Drive preconstruction from initial review through to project handoffs; participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, client presentations, and owner interviews.
• Risk & Market Evaluation: Assess project risks, material pricing fluctuations, site logistics, labor availability, and subcontractor capacity in the local market.
• Operational Handoff: Coordinate seamless project transitions to Accounting and Project Operations teams, ensuring project managers are set up for success.

Qualifications & What You Bring

• General Contractor Experience: Proven experience working for a Commercial General Contractor (3+ years of dedicated estimating or preconstruction experience preferred).
• Conceptual Estimating Expertise: Demonstrated ability to build accurate conceptual budgets with minimal design details.
• Well-Rounded Scope Knowledge: Strong, comprehensive knowledge of CSI divisions, building systems, materials, sequencing, and trade scopes across commercial, higher education, non-profit, or institutional builds.
• Proven Versatility: Comfort managing a high volume of varying contract amounts, tight turnarounds, and multiple projects simultaneously without compromising accuracy.
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on commercial GC experience will be strongly considered.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Communication & Cultural Fit: Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills with a collaborative, ego-free, team-first mindset.
