The Opportunity

The Barry S. Miller College of Business at the University of Central Florida invites applications for the Miller Technology Endowed Chair in Financial Systems, a 9-month tenured position at the rank of professor. This position is located on the UCF Main Campus with an anticipated start date in Fall 2027.

The central question addressed by this chair is: How should financial systems evolve to create, allocate, govern, and exchange capital in an increasingly intelligent, digital, and interconnected economy? Technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital platforms, blockchain, embedded finance, and advanced analytics are transforming financial institutions, markets, and organizational decision-making. We seek a scholar whose work advances understanding of financial systems, financial markets, financial institutions, accounting information systems, financial technology, corporate finance, banking, digital assets, financial regulation, or related areas.

This endowed chair is part of a broader investment, five endowed chairs in all, each committed to advancing scholarship and education at the intersection of technology and business transformation. The Miller Chairs are not organized around traditional academic disciplines, but around consequential problems emerging from the intersection of technology, organizations, and markets.

Miller Chairs are intended for scholars whose work has shaped-or has the clear potential to shape-how organizations function in a technology-driven economy. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the intellectual direction of the College's technology-focused initiatives and will contribute to the School of Technology Leadership and Innovation (STLI), a university-wide initiative focused on translating advances in technology into organizational capability, market innovation, and executive practice.

The UCF College of Business is one of the largest business schools in the United States and is in Orlando, one of the nation's fastest growing and most dynamic economic regions. UCF is a Carnegie R1 institution and is recognized for its leadership in innovation, partnerships, and its identity as Florida's Technology University.

The college is actively investing in initiatives that position it at the forefront of technology-enabled business education, including interdisciplinary programs, applied research collaborations, and new models of engagement with industry.

Responsibilities include:

• Serve as the intellectual architect for the College's Financial Systems initiative by building collaborations among faculty, industry, and government that establish UCF as a national leader in the field.
• Demonstrate the ability to translate scholarly expertise into organizational practice through industry partnerships, executive education, public engagement, policy influence, or other mechanisms that create measurable impact.
• Conduct high-impact research examining how emerging technologies are transforming financial systems, markets, institutions, and organizational decision-making.
• Contribute to the development of new academic programs, executive education offerings, and industry partnerships aligned with the College's technology focus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in business, finance, accounting, economics, information systems, computer science, engineering, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited (or equivalent) institution at time of application.
• A record of scholarly achievement sufficient to qualify for appointment with tenure at the rank of professor in the College of Business Administration.
• Demonstrated impact in research related to financial systems, financial markets, financial institutions, financial technologies, accounting information systems, or related fields.
• Evidence of an active and sustained research agenda with publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidates should demonstrate a history of engaging with organizations in ways that shape practice, including through applied research, advisory roles, executive education, or collaborative initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary collaborations that produce new research, educational programs, or industry partnerships.
• Commitment to translating scholarship into executive education and organizational capability.
• A record of leadership in shaping academic programs, research centers, or major initiatives.
