We are seeking up a postdoctoral fellow to support behavioral science public health research projects related to tobacco, food, and alcohol. The postdoc will support multiple projects, including research at the UNC Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science. One project is studying the impact of menthol cigarette restrictions and a cessation campaign. A second project is focused on advancing the science to reduce young adult little cigar and cigarillo use. The postdoc may support two additional R01s, one related to alcohol health warnings and another about sugary drink product warnings.

The postdoc will work closely with interdisciplinary research teams at UNC and will be jointly mentored by Dr. Marissa Hall (Health Behavior), Dr. Adam Goldstein (Family Medicine), and Dr. Justin Byron (Family Medicine). The teams value high-quality research that has public health impact, as well as a supportive and collaborative working environment. The postdoc will assist with study design, implementation, quantitative statistical analysis, qualitative data analysis, and interpretation and publication of study findings. In addition, the postdoc will develop their own research questions related to their fellowship and will receive multidisciplinary training and mentorship from senior researchers at UNC.

The position is for 12 months. There is a possibility the position could be extended for 1 year if funding is available. The postdocs will receive support in developing a federal grant proposal, funds for travel to 1-2 conferences a year to present their research, and ongoing mentoring.

A PhD in public health, health behavior, or a comparable field is required.

Experience with tobacco regulatory science research is required.

The ideal candidate will have experience with tobacco control research, including a demonstrated interest in regulatory science and the science of flavored tobacco products. The candidate should have expertise in RCT design and execution, as well as quantitative and qualitative research methods applied to tobacco control research.
