What to Expect Tesla is hiring a Project Coordinator for the Bay Area Infrastructure Design team, based in Lathrop. Projects include the building, site, and systems that support new manufacturing, robotics, and energy programs, from architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing packages through permitting and the handoff into construction. This role keeps the projects moving through consultant deliverables, open decisions, and permit readiness, and tracks design cost, budget, and schedule. The role also includes learning new software, understanding complex processes, and integrating AI into workflows. What You'll Do Track infrastructure design packages through the lifecycle: 30%, 60%, 90%, Issued for Permit, Issued for Construction, and permit revisions Coordinate internal & external design stakeholders (architect, structural, civil, MEP, fire, process) on deliverable dates, comment responses, RFIs, and transmittals, so reviews stay assigned and on schedule Maintain the design action register across active Lathrop projects. Each item must have an owner and a date, and should stay current as items move or close Support the meeting rhythm: agendas, notes, decisions, and follow-ups, with clear actionable notes Keep document control in order. Version control, file naming, SharePoint structure, and distribution so the team is working from the current set Prepare the weekly status for the Design Manager: what moved, what is stuck, what needs a decision, and what is at risk to the permit or construction schedule Turn repeat work into a system. Trackers, status drafts, meeting notes, and document search should run through clear templates and AI-assisted workflows Track design cost, budget, and schedule against the work underway, and flag what is committed, what is left, and what is at risk Connect design with construction, manufacturing, real estate, facilities, EHS, and the city so open items stay assigned and technical questions reach the correct owner What You'll Bring Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent project experience. Infrastructure design coordination experience is what matters most Working knowledge of the design lifecycle and drawing packages, including what 30 / 60 / 90, Issued for Permit, and Issued for Construction mean, and what has to be in place before a package moves Experience coordinating design consultants or a multi-discipline design team on a capital or industrial project. Construction administration, procurement, or software project management on their own are not the right background for this role Careful attention to detail, including the ability to cross-check a comment log, a transmittal, and a schedule and catch what does not line up Clear writing. Notes and emails are short, with an owner and a date Ability to read a complex process, draw the flow, and simplify it. Experience taking a handoff that was slow or spread across too many steps and making it faster and easier to run Working command of Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint, ease with Teams, and experience using AI tools to draft, track, and search Based in Lathrop, or willing to be on site 5 days a week.
