Junior Snowflake Data Engineer

100% Remote - must work EST.

Think is seeking a Snowflake Data Engineer to support a large-scale data modernization initiative for a government client. This role will help transform and modernize legacy claims and healthcare data platforms, migrating data from mainframe environments into a modern Snowflake data ecosystem.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working hands-on with complex healthcare data, building scalable data solutions, and helping shape an evolving cloud data architecture in a highly visible federal program.

• Support the modernization of CMS claims and healthcare data platforms from legacy/mainframe systems to Snowflake.
• Perform data analysis, data validation, and data quality assessments across large datasets.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and data transformations.
• Design and implement Snowflake data structures, roles, permissions, and access controls.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and business rules.
• Assist with data repository design and overall Snowflake architecture best practices.
• Support data migration, integration, and performance optimization efforts.
• Work closely with technical and business teams to establish a scalable cloud data environment.
• Participate in defining future-state data engineering and data architecture strategies.

• Core and/or Advanced Snowflake Certification
• 2+ years of hands-on experience working within Snowflake environments.
• Strong SQL development and query optimization experience.
• Experience working with large-scale databases, data repositories, and data integration initiatives.
• Knowledge of Snowflake security, including role-based access controls, permissions, and governance.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, database concepts, and data architecture principles.
• Experience performing data analysis and working directly with complex datasets.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Previous experience supporting CMS, HHS, or other federal healthcare agencies.
• Experience working with healthcare, claims, Medicare, Medicaid, or related healthcare datasets.
• Experience supporting cloud-based data modernization initiatives.
• Background functioning in both Data Engineer and Data Architect capacities.
• Experience migrating data from legacy or mainframe environments to modern cloud platforms.
