Function: Maintenance Job Summary:I. Job Summary:The Routine Ammonia Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading mechanical maintenance activities across the ammonia plants and associated support facilities. The role manages a blended workforce of CF employees and contract personnel and is accountable for the safe, reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective execution of routine and plant-outage maintenance work. The Superintendent manages the annual maintenance budget, develops employees, coordinates priorities across departments, and drives improvements in safe work execution, productivity, and cost performance. Job Description: II. Responsibilities: Safety, Environmental, and Security Leadership * Provide visible field leadership and ensure maintenance activities meet environmental, health, safety, security, and housekeeping expectations. * Promote accountability for hazard recognition, procedure compliance, quality execution, and timely correction of unsafe or noncompliant conditions. Routine and Outage Maintenance Execution * Ensure routine and outage work requests within the area of responsibility are reviewed, prioritized, planned, scheduled, and executed. * Maintain appropriate focus on preventive maintenance, corrective work, emergent repairs, and plant-outage preparation and execution. * Coordinate with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, Procurement, and EHS to resolve barriers affecting permits, materials, equipment readiness, and field execution. * Monitor field progress, schedule performance, work quality, productivity, and equipment return-to-service readiness. Reliability and Production Support * Maintain equipment in a manner that supports established production, efficiency, and reliability goals, excluding planned events. * Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Reliability to address equipment risks, repeat failures, bad actors, and maintenance-driven production losses. * Use equipment history, work-order information, field observations, and lessons learned to improve future maintenance execution. * Support the development and consistent application of maintenance standards and best practices. Budget and Business Plan Management * Prepare the annual maintenance budget and maintain effective cost controls for Ammonia Plants 1 through 6 and their respective support facilities. * Monitor forecasts, commitments, contractor spending, and cost performance and take timely action when variances arise. * Balance safety, reliability, production needs, schedule requirements, and cost when establishing work priorities and allocating resources. * Provide clear status, risk, and cost information to plant and maintenance leadership. Employee Leadership and Development * Set clear expectations for employees and contractors and assign resources to maximize workforce capability and effective work execution. * Develop employees through coaching, feedback, training, development planning, and meaningful work assignments. * Provide accurate and timely performance feedback for planners and other assigned employees and support succession planning. * Promote open communication, collaboration, accountability, and respectful working relationships across departments. Contractor Management * Oversee work performed by outside contractors and hold contractor organizations accountable for safety, quality, productivity, staffing, schedule compliance, and cost. * Ensure contractor roles, work boundaries, technical requirements, and performance expectations are clearly communicated. * Monitor contractor work in the field and address performance concerns before they affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule. * Coordinate contractor requirements and resource needs in advance of routine work, outages, and other major maintenance events. Internal Controls and Continuous Improvement * Establish and implement processes and procedures required to meet departmental internal-control requirements. * Ensure established processes and procedures are followed as designed and that required records and approvals are maintained. * Work with other departments to identify deficiencies in existing processes and revise the applicable processes or procedures as needed. * Identify opportunities to improve planning, work execution, productivity, reliability, cost control, and repeatability. III. Incumbent Attributes: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an ABET-accredited university with at least seven years of chemical or refinery plant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent with at least ten years of demonstrated chemical or refinery plant planning, scheduling, maintenance, or supervisory experience. * Demonstrated leadership experience managing employees, contractors, competing priorities, maintenance costs, and field execution in an industrial environment. * Strong communication, technical, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills. * Working knowledge of fixed mechanical maintenance, preventive maintenance, work management, outage execution, contractor oversight, budgeting, and equipment reliability. * Ability to coordinate effectively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Reliability, Procurement, EHS, and contractor organizations. * Working knowledge of a computerized maintenance management system, such as SAP, and common Microsoft Office applications. * Must be able to acquire, maintain, and possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). * Must satisfy company drug- and alcohol-testing requirements, including random and for-cause testing.
