Job Description

Sealed Air is seeking a driven individual for an Application Engineer role to focus on the development, testing and commercial success of new and current packaging solutions within the food packaging industry. The ability to understand packaging materials, packaging equipment, industry standard test methods, and our customers' operations is a must. This person should be familiar with food/meat science and how different packaging and environmental factors can impact food products.



Responsibilities include test plan development, application and performance testing, data analysis, and communication of results and recommendations. This role is responsible for new package development, business continuity support, and in-plant customer support and training. This role is Hybrid coming into the office Monday through Thursday with flexibility to be remote Friday.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Evaluate new material and system designs through rigorous testing that simulate real world conditions and stresses.
  • Work well within a cross-functional team
  • Assess the impact of packaging on shelf life of various food products, including proteins applications, and use those insights to qualify new solutions and communicate performance risks.
  • Support the development of shrink bags materials solutions.
  • Deliver technical training to field support and customers on shrink bags technology
  • Creative problem solving to support our customers and internal innovation process.
  • Insight creation that drives the next innovations for Sealed Air.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis that enables recommendations for data driven business decisions.
  • Build strong customer relationships and collaborate effectively across technical and commercial teams to accelerate implementation of SEE solutions.
  • Partner with supply chain and manufacturing teams to assess the impact of raw material or process changes on packaging performance and product quality.
  • Partner with a variety of cross-functional teams within the organization to develop and transfer technologies regionally and globally.
  • Work effectively within a matrix managed organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in food science, meat science, packaging science or similar discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% (most of the travel will be domestic however the international travel would be mostly to Canada and potentially Italy)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience creating data-driven reports to communicate technical ideas
  • Experience with test method development and design of experiments
  • Professional, highly-motivated, reliable, and solutions-orientated



PREFFERED:



  • 4+ years relevant industry experience (flexible plastics, food packaging, food manufacturing, flexible plastics manufacturing, packaged product testing)
  • Minitab or other data analysis software experience

Pay Transparency:

Base Compensation Range: $81,900 - $141,355



The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs.
