Test Equipment Engineer, Cell Qualification

Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. This is an opportunity to work in the Cell Qualification Test Equipment Design and R&D group, which is responsible for designing, building, deploying, and supporting test equipment for Tesla's next-generation Li-ion battery cells, and the development of new cell test methods. This candidate's primary role will be to design cell test equipment for domestic and international Tesla labs.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in designing and commissioning fixtures, equipment and automated test systems, with aptitude for electrical and mechanical equipment to be able to identify subtle issues that could impact safety, accuracy, uptime, and efficiency. • Design testequipment,leadandparticipateinequipmentdesign projects
• Interact with Cell Engineering teams to prioritize and execute work requests
• Createequipment build documentation, train labstaffonoperationandmaintenance
• Work withsupply chain co-workers,as well as3rdparty vendors and suppliersto secure components,partsor complete equipment systems
• Hands-onassembly ofcomponents and equipment systems as needed
• Work with laband facilitymanagers at domestic and international sites to ensure utilities and infrastructurewillaccommodate new equipment
• Travel to domestic and international Tesla laboratories and factories as needed to install, commission and support equipment
• Monitor equipment and order spare parts
• Organize andmaintaina world class lab environment
• Perform all assignments incollaboration and accordance withEHS,security, and business practice requirements and policies

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Experience workinghands-onin an engineering prototype environmentwithdemonstratedmechanical and electrical skillsandcompliancewith safety protocols forlithium-ionbatteries,high voltage, HAZMAT, HVAC, LOTO
• Experience withstandard electronics tools including DC meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes
• Familiarwith data acquisition systemsand measurement toolsis a plus
• Able to own assignments,workefficientlyand takefull accountability for their success
• Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills with attention to detail
• Experience with common MS office programs (MS Project,Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to travel internationally for business trips
