Purpose of Position: Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte, Contadina and S&W. We are currently seeking a Shipping Clerk. The Shipping Clerk supports daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and distribution activities by coordinating shipments, maintaining accurate system transactions and documentation, and communicating with drivers, carriers, third-party logistics providers, and internal departments. This position works closely with Distribution Coordinators and Warehouse leadership to ensure finished goods, materials, and supplies are received, stored, and shipped accurately and on schedule. Performance is measured through shipping and receiving accuracy, inventory integrity, timely completion of transactions and documentation, customer service, and adherence to safety, food safety, and operational requirements. Accountabilities: Shipping & Receiving Coordination
- Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities in accordance with established schedules and operational priorities.
- Check drivers in and out of the facility and provide required shipping and loading documentation.
- Coordinate shipment appointments and communicate scheduling changes with carriers, drivers, third-party logistics providers, and internal teams.
- Direct drivers to appropriate docks, staging locations, and loading areas.
- Monitor shipment status and communicate delays, scheduling issues, or other concerns to Warehouse leadership.
- Support Distribution Coordinators with daily transportation and shipping activities as needed.
Shipping Documentation & System Transactions
- Process shipping and receiving transactions accurately within SAP, BRYE, and other applicable systems.
- Review new orders and update shipment dates and other order information as required.
- Create Stock Transfer Orders (STOs) and other inventory transactions supporting movement of materials between locations.
- Process finished goods, materials, supplies, empty cans, and other applicable inventory transactions.
- Review shipping documentation for completeness, accuracy, required signatures, and system alignment.
- Maintain organized shipping and receiving records in accordance with company requirements.
Inventory & Order Management
- Maintain accurate inventory transactions associated with shipping, receiving, transfers, and product movements.
- Support inventory reconciliation and investigate discrepancies involving shipments or system transactions.
- Coordinate inventory transfers between Plover and other company or third-party locations.
- Assist Warehouse personnel with inventory management activities and operational priorities.
- Escalate inventory discrepancies, system issues, or shipment concerns requiring additional review.
Regulatory & Customer Documentation
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for domestic and international shipments.
- Complete USDA shipping documentation and related compliance requirements as applicable.
- Create and maintain ASN and other required electronic shipment documentation.
- Support accurate documentation necessary for product traceability and customer requirements.
- Maintain records in designated electronic systems, shared locations, and other required repositories.
Warehouse & Operational Support
- Respond to emails, telephone calls, and other communications related to shipping and receiving activities.
- Cross-train in Shipping Office functions to provide coverage and operational flexibility.
- Support Warehouse Shipping Supervisors and Distribution Coordinators as operational needs require.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional shipping office and common work areas.
- Obtain and maintain forklift certification and assist with warehouse or forklift activities when required.
- Support production and warehouse operations during seasonal and off-season periods as business needs require.
Safety, Food Safety & Quality
- Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, food safety requirements, and warehouse procedures.
- Wear required PPE and maintain awareness of forklift traffic, loading docks, and other warehouse hazards.
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, injuries, equipment concerns, and product issues immediately.
- Maintain product integrity and traceability through accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.
- Support compliance with customer, regulatory, food safety, and company requirements.
Minimum Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and data-entry skills.
- Basic mathematical skills and ability to accurately reconcile shipment and inventory information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shipping and warehouse environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with others.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and alternate shifts based on operational requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or inventory experience.
- SAP or other ERP/inventory management system experience.
- Experience coordinating transportation or working with carriers and third-party logistics providers.
- Experience with USDA or international shipping documentation.
- Previous forklift experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
