Job Summary This position is full-time, 40 hrs, 4-10s or 5-8s, M-F, Stoneham location About the APP Role and Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Under the supervision and direction of the Chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and Administrative Nurse Manager, and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing APP practice, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be responsible for the evaluation and management of patients seeking care at the MGH Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, in Stoneham location. The APP is responsible for triaging new and follow-up patients, administering prescribed wound care, educating patients, coordinating the patient's plan of care and follow-up, verifying test results, and maintaining the clinical environment and supply of special purchase products and topical medications, as needed. The APP will obtain patient histories, perform comprehensive physical examinations to evaluate vascular patients, arrange diagnostic procedures, coordinate consultations, implement treatment plans, communicate with referring physicians, and provide patient and family education. The APP must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the adult and older adult populations served in this area. The Ideal Candidate will have Experience with wound care and management, preferred Interest in wound care and venous care Interest in potentially doing vein procedures such as sclerotherapy or phlebectomies in the long term Ability to assess medical history of patient, as well as patient concerns, and to determine any limitations/contraindications. Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately. Knowledge of locations of emergency equipment and procedures. Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac life support standards as established by the American Heart Association. Possess the maturity, self-confidence, and ability to follow complex patient management plans as directed by the attending vascular specialist. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. Yes Essential Functions -Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting -Performs complete histories and physical examinations -Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests -Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings -Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries -Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population -Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures Qualifications Education Master's Degree Nursing or Physician Assistant required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
