Description The Director, Consumer Lending Direct Product Management is responsible for leading the product portfolio strategy, lifecycle management, and overall success of direct consumer loan products, with emphasis on direct auto and personal loans. This role serves as a key connector across business, operational, technical, and member-focused functions to define product direction, drive execution, improve the borrowing experience and ensure products deliver sustainable value while supporting long-term organizational objectives. Here's what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful: What You'll Do:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high performing product and program management team, fostering innovation, member centric designs, and cross-functional collaboration to continuously evolve the direct lending portfolio.
- Lead the strategy, development, and management of direct lending products and programs, including direct auto loans, personal loans, and other consumer product offerings, to drive profitable growth through digital channels while aligning risk appetite with member needs.
- Develop competitive product features and pricing strategies tailored to digital channels leveraging market insights, member segmentation, and data analytics to improve approval rates, volume, and portfolio performance in the direct lending space.
- Oversee the product lifecycle for direct lending programs, including design, pricing, and feature development, with particular focus on enhancing the direct auto lending experience.
- Collaborate with marketing, digital, and sales teams to create compelling member journeys, promotional campaigns, and acquisition strategies that highlight the benefits of direct lending, especially frictionless direct auto loan experiences.
- Drive program performance and profitability by monitoring key metrics such as origination volume, yield, delinquency, loss rates, and member acquisition costs, while implementing data drive adjustments to product terms, risk models, and marketing tactics.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and fair lending practices across all direct lending products and programs, staying ahead of consumer protection laws and regulations.
Essential Skills:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in consumer lending product management or program development, with significant exposure to direct lending
- 4+ years of experience leading a diverse team including hiring, coaching and performance management.
- Proven track record of designing, launching, and optimizing direct lending products, including hands-on experience with direct lending programs in a financial institution, fintech, or credit union.
- Demonstrated success growing origination volume and profitability through digital first product strategies while maintaining strong credit quality.
- Experience leading cross functional product initiatives involving underwriting, technology, operations, servicing, and marketing teams.
- Deep expertise in direct lending product design, pricing models, risk-based pricing, and program structuring with specialized knowledge of direct auto lending.
- Strong understanding of consumer credit risk frameworks, portfolio analytics, and how product features influence approval rates, member experience, and loss performance.
- Proficiency with product analytics, competitive intelligence, A/B testing, and performance dashboards to inform product decisions.
- Innovative and strategic thinking skilled at translating market opportunities and member feedback into successful direct lending products, particularly in the competitive auto finance segment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and leading through change.
- Bachelor's degree in field relevant to role (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree), advanced degree preferred.
