Description

Leidos is looking for an FAA Consultant to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the development of the Leidos Common Automation Platform (L-CAP). L-CAP is a mission-critical, future-ready automation platform built on a hybrid cloud data mesh architecture, enabling next-generation air traffic management capabilities. You will lead AI engineering strategy and practices for L-CAP, integrating AI-augmented development tools, machine learning capabilities, and intelligent automation into the program's engineering workflow. We are building with an AI-first engineering mindset, embracing emerging AI capabilities and modern development practices to accelerate delivery, improve software quality, and continuously evolve how we design and build mission-critical systems. This position supports government programs and requires the ability to obtain andmaintaina favorable Public Trust investigation.

This position is classified as a consulting employee and is part-time.

  • Capture support: Contribute deployment/fielding subject-matter expertise to overall capture strategy, win themes, and discriminators; support solution and color-team reviews; advise on deployment-related staffing, schedule, and cost-basis assumptions (does not set pricing).

  • Deployment & Operational Readiness strategy (primary focus): Define the strategy and approach for the future Director's three areas - Deployment & Site Activation, Transition & Training, and In-Service Management - including the build-to-field coordination model (liaison network, PI-aligned cadence, inbound/outbound flow) and the tiered/waved deployment and readiness concept.

  • Teaming strategy & coordination: Support the teaming strategy for the deployment/readiness scope (capability gaps, partner roles, work-share), and lead coordination across teammates, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to converge on a proposal-ready approach.

Basic Qualifications.

  • Bachelors degree and 12+ years of experience with the FAA or equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Senior experience leading or shaping deployment, site-activation, transition/training, or in-service/sustainment organizations for large, multi-site systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to define operational-readiness and build-to-field strategy for complex programs.

  • Strong stakeholder/partner coordination skills; able to lead multi-organization working sessions to a converged approach.

  • Ability to contribute in a competitive capture environment, including proposal and color-team reviews.

  • U.S. citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust (required for the full-time role upon award).

  • Ability to execute a consulting agreement and comply with Leidos confidentiality, ethics, and OCI / procurement-integrity requirements.

  • Experience on FAA or other safety-critical / air-traffic / transportation programs at national scale.

  • Successful completion of background investigations as required by the government customer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an Agile-at-scale (SAFe or equivalent) environment with cross-team dependency management.

  • Familiarity with DO-278A / DO-178C assurance and certified-baseline deployment discipline.

  • Prior capture/proposal experience on large federal pursuits.

  • Background bridging software development and field operations with credibility on both sides.

  • PMP, SAFe (SPC/RTE), or equivalent certification.

Salary Range: $116,350-$179,000-$241,650
