Overview
The Business Development Coordinator is responsible for generating sales growth for Cat Compact equipment through proactive customer engagement, customer acquisition, outbound prospecting, digital lead management, walk-in customer development, and opportunity conversion. This role serves as an in-store sales professional focused on identifying customer needs, developing equipment solutions, and driving growth within designated market segments. The Business Development Coordinator acts as a positive first impression of Altorfer and Cat Compact by delivering a responsive, professional, and consultative customer experience while developing long-term customer relationships. The position collaborates with Sales, Rental, Product Support, Parts, Service, Cat Financial, and Branch Leadership to identify opportunities, support sales growth initiatives, and create customer value. Success in this role is measured through customer acquisition, sales pipeline growth, opportunity conversion, market share expansion, customer retention, equipment sales growth, and daily customer engagement activity.
Basic Duties
Generate profitable growth through Cat Compact equipment sales, attachment sales, technology solutions, and financing opportunities.
- Achieve established sales growth objectives through proactive customer prospecting and opportunity management.
- Conduct a minimum of 16-20 meaningful sales-focused customer interactions daily through outbound calls, lead follow-up, quote follow-up, and customer development activity.
- Respond to walk-in traffic, inbound calls, website inquiries, marketing leads, referrals, and assigned customer opportunities with urgency.
- Develop new customer relationships within targeted market segments, including small contractors, landscapers, utility contractors, and emerging compact equipment users.
- Identify conquest opportunities and competitive displacement opportunities to grow Cat market share.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline with documented opportunities, follow-up actions, estimated close dates, and growth strategies.
- Support local marketing initiatives, customer events, demonstrations, and lead-generation activities.
- Collaborate with branch leadership, outside sales representatives, and Caterpillar resources to execute market growth strategies.

Payrate:$60,000-$80,000 Annually
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of five years of construction, equipment, product support, sales, or related industry experience preferred; compact equipment or heavy equipment experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in business development, sales prospecting, customer acquisition, equipment sales, or customer relationship development preferred.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record, meeting Altorfer motor vehicle requirements.
- Strong communication skills, including written, email, verbal, presentation, and customer-facing communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and other business/sales tools.
- Strong planning, organization, time management, follow-up, and self-directed work habits.
- Ability to manage multiple customer opportunities simultaneously while maintaining excellent follow-up discipline.
- Ability to work in a demanding, field-based and store-based environment with frequent travel to customer jobsites and branch locations.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Primary work will be performed in a Cat Compact store, office, branch, or customer-facing retail environment, with regular travel to customer locations, jobsites, branches, and market events as needed.
- Must be able to walk on uneven terrain at customer jobsites, bend, climb in and around equipment, and perform equipment walk-arounds or inspections.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. as required by the role.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Must reside in the assigned territory or be willing to relocate.
- Occasional Saturday store coverage may be required to support customer traffic and branch sales initiatives.
