Position Summary:-

We are seeking a Senior Engineer - High Voltage Field Engineering to join our client - a growing High Voltage team in Huntersville, NC. This role combines electrical engineering expertise with hands-on field operations, supporting the installation, commissioning, and successful delivery of complex power systems.

This engineer will work closely with manufacturing, R&D, project management, installation technicians, and other engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle. Once onsite, this individual serves as a go-to technical engineering resource, ensuring systems are installed and operating safely, electrically, and mechanically as designed.

Direct high-voltage cable experience is valuable but not required. Candidates with strong field engineering experience within power delivery, transmission, substations, or similar electrical infrastructure environments will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for the installation, testing, commissioning, and field execution of electrical and high-voltage systems.
  • Serve as a key technical resource onsite, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues and making sound engineering decisions in real-time.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and technical analysis to support system design, installation, and field operations.
  • Work closely with installation technicians, Project Managers, Manufacturing, R&D, and engineering teams to ensure systems are fully prepared prior to energization.
  • Verify systems meet technical specifications and operate safely and reliably before being placed into service.
  • Support the engineering and specification of complete systems from initial design through final installation and commissioning.
  • Review drawings, specifications, calculations, and other engineering documentation.
  • Utilize engineering design tools such as AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks to review or support system and component designs.
  • Apply relevant electrical codes, safety requirements, engineering standards, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and coordinate with internal teams to identify practical, timely solutions.
  • Consult with engineering peers and other technical experts when resolving complex field challenges.
  • Interface with customers and project stakeholders as a knowledgeable technical representative.
  • Maintain a strong focus on field safety and safe execution of electrical work.
  • Travel domestically approximately 30% to support project installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and other field activities. Travel may fluctuate based on project needs.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with significant field operations/field engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting power delivery, electrical infrastructure, transmission, substations, high-voltage systems, or similar environments.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with experience performing engineering calculations and technical analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems in a field environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices, codes, and engineering standards.
  • Ability to work independently and make technical decisions while serving as an onsite engineering resource.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, project management, installation, and customer teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically approximately 30%.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • High-voltage system or cable experience.
  • Underground transmission experience.
  • Overhead transmission experience.
  • Substation experience.
  • Transformer experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Experience supporting system installation, testing, energization, or commissioning.
