About the Job

The Bronstein lab in the University of Minnesota Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate for a project which focuses on personalized, non-invasive neuromodulation as a treatment for severe mental illness. This position involves using MRI scans from clinical trial participants, who will have significant symptoms of mental illness.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

*Work closely with senior team members to analyze functional and structural neuroimaging data (40%)
*Lead key aspects of scanning sessions, including proper placement of participants in the scanner, shimming of magnetic fields as necessary, and hands-on leadership of neuroimaging on scan days (25%)
*Spearhead preparation of conference presentations, scientific publications, and aspects of progress reports involving MRI neuroimaging data (20%)
*Supervise and train junior research and other staff (10%)
*Engage in professional development activities, such that the individual maintains a strong upward trajectory as agreed upon in an individual development plan co-developed with supervisors, and as generally befitting an early career scientist (5%)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
*PhD in biomedical engineering, psychiatry, neuroscience, physiology
*Strong publication history and evidence of skill in MRI data acquisition and analysis
*Ability to analyze MRI data in R / Python, as evidenced by publication/presentation record
*Strong attention to detail, conscientiousness, and organizational skills
*Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with colleagues from a variety of skills and backgrounds, maintaining interpersonal behavior that is professional and becoming of an employee of the University of Minnesota, in the sole opinion of supervisor(s)
*Ability to maintain professional demeanor when working with research participants who may have significant emotional disturbances
*Flexibility to conduct study procedures across a range of locations, including MRI suites, inpatient care floors, clinics, and research laboratories
*Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
*Ability and willingness to obtain and document immunizations required for work in clinical environments (e.g., measles, influenza, hepatitis B, negative tuberculosis testing, SARS-CoV-2)

Preferred Qualifications:
*Specific experience in analyzing MRI data from neuromodulation studies; specific experience analyzing fMRI BOLD signal data; specific experience analyzing MRI structural and tractography data, particularly with a focus on deep brain

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: Salary range is $63,480 - $77,076; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
