Structural Engineer
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Structural Engineer to help us keep building.
Working with our Structural Engineering team, you will apply your knowledge of structural analysis, design, and materials across a wide variety of projects. You will work with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood/timber systems on buildings, treatment plants, utility tunnels, piping supports, and other project types for municipal, educational, industrial, and commercial clients.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis and design using structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood/timber systems.
- Work on a variety of project types, including buildings, treatment plants, utility tunnels, piping supports, and other structures.
- Collaborate with technical staff across Fishbeck to provide consulting engineering services for universities, municipalities, architects, national retailers, industrial clients, and local development clients.
- Work closely with fellow structural engineers and multidisciplinary project team members in a multi-office environment.
- Assist with the development of structural calculations, drawings, and other project documentation.
- Participate in project coordination and site visits as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan preferred, or ability to obtain Michigan licensure through reciprocity.
- Familiarity with structural design standards including AISC 360 and ACI 318.
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 341, ACI 350, ACI 530, and NDS.
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Revit modeling software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary, multi-office team environment.
