Position Summary: The Senior Mortgage Processor is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of mortgage loans intended for sale on the secondary market. This includes processing a variety of loan types-Conventional, FHA, VA, NIFA, and other specialized programs-from origination up until closing. The role requires expert knowledge of investor and agency guidelines, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to compliance and customer service excellence. Essential Functions:
- Process mortgage loans intended for sale on the secondary market including Conventional, FHA, VA, NIFA and other special programs as needed. This includes all processing steps from origination up until closing.
- Review loan file for accuracy, analyze documentation, pre-underwrite loan file and submit to underwriting.
- Coordinate the loan process by collaborating with originators, underwriters, closers, and other stakeholders.
- Manage a high-volume production pipeline and provide timely updates on loan status.
- Review and clear all underwriting conditions prior to closing.
- Resolve all items identified in pre/post-closing reviews.
- Anticipate and fulfill requirements throughout the loan lifecycle.
- Ensure all transactions comply with bank policies, regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and service standards.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of loan processing experience required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with secondary market loans preferred; subject to management discretion.
- Proven ability to manage a pipeline of 30-60+ loan files with accuracy and efficiency.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying Agency and Investor guidelines across all loan types.
- Able to support the DD, Closing, Funding, and Post-Closing functions as needed.
- Comfortable training and mentoring new or junior processors.
- Acts as a change agent, identifying process improvements and taking initiative.
- Recognized as a collaborative team player, demonstrating resilience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Strong written communication skills; capable of drafting procedures upon request.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and in working with other financial software.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Working Environment: Indoor work - not exposed to outdoor elements or hazards. Some sedentary work and occasional lifting and/or carrying up to 10 pounds.
