Job Summary

The Economic Development Senior Product Manager leads CenterPoint Energy's economic development storytelling strategy and leverages a wide range of marketing tools to support business growth. This role promotes the CenterPoint Energy Economic Development team through digital and print channels to drive new business recruitment, expansion, and to provide marketing support for CNP's economic development partners.

Essential Functions

Strategic Marketing Leadership



  • Develops and implements growth marketing strategies, maintains a database of new ideas, and conducts competitive, customer, and product analysis to identify strategic opportunities.



  • Secures approval for strategic marketing plans and leads their execution by aligning prospect needs, market opportunities, and organizational competencies.


Partner & Market Analysis



  • Analyzes economic development partners and CNP's assigned product lines to identify business growth opportunities.



  • Builds marketing plans for lead generation, conducts environmental and customer research, and develops comprehensive business plans covering marketing mix, budgets, and performance forecasts.



  • Oversees marketing spending, manages budget variances, and ensures cost-effective execution to achieve growth and profitability objectives.


Continued Essential Functions

Commercialization & Implementation



  • Develops tactical implementation plans for new strategies, business opportunities, and markets.



  • Leads cross-functional teams to meet aggressive timelines and quality standards.



  • Plans and executes pilot/market testing when appropriate, evaluates outcomes, and ensures smooth rollout of marketing initiatives.



  • Communicates plans effectively to leadership, sales teams, service providers, and partner organizations.


Continuous Improvement & Team Development



  • Anticipates implementation requirements and communicates channel and support needs across teams.


  • Provides feedback on projects, mentors analysts, and promotes continuous improvement in marketing processes.



  • Demonstrates strong leadership in team settings, driving collaboration, decisiveness, and results-oriented problem solving.


Professional & Managerial Excellence



  • Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, sound judgment, and integrity.



  • Acts with decisiveness in setting priorities and overcoming barriers, while influencing others in a cross-functional environment.

Education Description


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field required.





  • MBA with a marketing emphasis preferred.



Experience


  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in marketing and sales environments.





  • Proven accomplishments in product marketing implementation, new product development, or strategic marketing.



Physical Requirements


  • Operate personal computers (desktop/laptop) for extended periods.





  • Ability to sit and view computer terminals for prolonged timeframes.



Working Conditions


  • Fast-paced environment with high daily deadlines.





  • Indoor office setting (open cubicle or private office).





  • Ability to travel as needed.
