| Position Description: |
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Iowa invites applications for a Tenure-Track position at the Assistant Professor level, starting August 2027. Preference will be given to candidates whose research programs have connections with Abstract Algebra and increase research connectivity within the department, including (but not limited to) Algebraic Geometry, Geometric Group Theory, Algebraic Combinatorics, Representation Theory, Computational Algebra/Algebraic Geometry, Cryptography and Coding Theory. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate-level courses covering fundamentals of Abstract Algebra on a regular basis, actively pursue external funding to support their research, and engage in teaching and mentoring of students at all undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, they are expected to contribute service to the department, university, and professional organizations. How to Apply: The application process is a two-part process. | Education Requirement: |
- Candidates must hold a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.

| Required Qualifications: |
- An established research program with potential to incorporate graduate student researchers
- Experience teaching college or university mathematics courses
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
|
| Desirable Qualifications: |
- At least two years of research experience beyond PhD completion by the time the appointment begins
- Established record of external funding
- A research program with connections to Abstract Algebra that will increase research connectivity within the department
- Previous experience and/or future plans for mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
