| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
As the University's Chief Academic Officer, the Provost has broad responsibilities for advancing the education and research missions of the University. The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (
OEVCP) provides the leadership for
UNC-CH's strategic planning for academic programs. The Provost's organization ensures the development and enhancement of high quality baccalaureate, masters and doctoral-level programs through ongoing program review and assessment, the raising of academic standards, and the expansion of research and other scholarship/creative activity. |
| Position Summary |
The Executive Assistant provides principal, high-level administrative support to senior administrators within the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. The position will independently manage a broad range of administrative and operational functions, including complex calendar management, coordination of executive meetings and events, preparation of confidential correspondence and materials, management of sensitive information, and facilitation of communication among campus leadership, external stakeholders, and governmental and higher education partners.
The position requires the exercise of independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making in handling confidential matters, prioritizing competing demands, and ensuring the efficient operation of the executive office. In addition to providing direct executive support, the position will serve as a key point of contact for internal and external constituents, representing the Office of the Provost in interactions with senior university leadership, state agencies, peer institutions, and other high-level stakeholders.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
