Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant supports the Foundation's accounting, reporting, fund and grant accounting, budgeting, and compliance activities. This role is responsible for reconciliations, close support, donor-restricted fund tracking, grant financial management, and related analysis to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and aligned with donor intent, grant requirements, GAAP, and Foundation policies.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded accounting professional with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience managing multiple priorities in a nonprofit or healthcare environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • General Accounting & Financial Reporting:
    Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, close support, and related schedules.
    Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate variances, and maintain accurate accounting records.
    Assist with monthly financial statements, management reports, and other financial reporting.
    Support annual audits and compliance reviews by preparing schedules, documentation, and audit support.
  • Fund & Grant Accounting:
    Monitor and reconcile donor-restricted, board-designated, and grant funds.
    Review funding requests and grant expenditures for alignment with donor intent, gift agreements, grant requirements, and Foundation policies.
    Track fund and grant activity, including contributions, releases, expenditures, budgets, invoicing, and reporting.
    Prepare fund and grant reports, analyses, and supporting documentation for leadership, stakeholders, and audits.
  • Budgeting & Financial Analysis:
    Support the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasting, and budget-to-actual reporting.
    Prepare financial analyses, management reports, and ad hoc reporting as needed.
    Assist leadership with special projects, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
  • Support accounting policies, procedures, system improvements, and internal control enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting.
  • Serve as a financial resource to Foundation departments and perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance Required
EXPERIENCE
  • 3 years, of progressive accounting experience Required
  • Other, Experience with nonprofit, fund, grant, or healthcare accounting Preferred
  • Other, Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, audit support, Excel, and financial systems Preferred
