Job Description

This position is front line staff in the adult neuropsychology and health psychology clinics. Duties include: customer service, scheduling patients, arriving patients, arranging return visits, building schedules, updating patient demographics, confirming insurance, completing preauthorizations, requesting medical records, working with patients, families and/or staff in handling and resolving problems that may occur during the course of a visit.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient check-in, check-out, scheduling, cancelling, and no-showing appointments for the adult neuropsychology and health psychology clinics (five clinicians total).
  • Effectively utilize computer applications such as IDX/GE, RevenueCycle, PowerChart, Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Remain courteous and respectful with patients, co-workers, and outside contacts. Adhere to the UMHC Culture of Yes.
  • Answer phone calls and route to appropriate party.
  • Request, prepare, and ensure the completeness of the patient medical record while following compliance standards.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from all outside agencies and referral sources by phone, email, and face-to-face visits in a professional and knowledgeable manner while adhering to departmental and University policies and procedures.
  • Assist with completing insurance preauthorizations.
  • Maintain inventory of office and lab supplies; prepare and place orders for supplies through the College of Health Sciences (CHS) procurement process.
  • Maintain the general appearance of the waiting room, reception area, and clinic rooms; straighten magazines, chairs and other light furniture.
  • Administrative Support for 6 faculty members.
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned in a competent and timely manner.

Monday - Friday
7:45am - 4:45pm

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
Six (6) months of experience with frontline customer service and guest relations duties and skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Prior experience in a health care setting, hospital admissions, registration, medical office, and use of medical terminology strongly preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Anticipated Hiring Range: $15.81 - $20.37
Grade: PAT 4A
