Job Summary

The Safety Manager provides operational safety support across multiple business units and projects within an assigned geographic region. This role implements, administers, and monitors safety policies, procedures, and programs while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. The Safety Manager leads safety training, audits, incident investigations, hazard mitigation efforts, and corrective action planning while supporting site leadership and safety personnel. This position requires a strong background in construction safety, leadership, training, and the ability to travel as needed to promote a proactive safety culture.

Job Responsibilities




  • Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state safety standards.



  • Monitor compliance with general and project-specific safety requirements.



  • Develop corrective action plans for locations or projects that do not meet established safety goals.



  • Develop and deliver safety presentations, training programs, and accident prevention education for employees and management.



  • Schedule and conduct safety audits, inspections, and site assessments.



  • Identify workplace hazards and develop corrective actions, hazard mitigation strategies, and safety processes.



  • Investigate incidents, near misses, equipment incidents, and vehicle incidents.



  • Perform root cause analyses and recommend preventive measures to reduce future incidents.



  • Prepare reports and summaries related to safety audits, investigations, incidents, and performance metrics.



  • Facilitate safety communication through meetings, committees, training sessions, and other initiatives.



  • Notify appropriate leadership of incidents, injuries, and OSHA-related activity and provide on-site support as needed.



  • Maintain accurate safety records, OSHA logs, incident data, and related documentation.



  • Promote a positive safety culture and serve as a mentor and safety resource for employees and leadership.



  • Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of site safety coordinators.



  • Participate in claims reviews and support incident follow-up and corrective actions.



  • Travel as required to support regional projects, operations, and safety initiatives.



  • Perform other safety-related responsibilities as assigned.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience; experience in telecommunications, electrical, or related construction environments is preferred.



  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including experience providing safety training and coaching to employees and management.



  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction safety standards and applicable state regulations.



  • BCSP certification, such as Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent safety certification preferred.



  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification or equivalent safety training credential preferred.



  • Knowledge of confined space entry requirements and applicable construction safety standards preferred.



  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.



  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.



  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills with attention to detail.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.



  • Ability to use computer systems and safety-related tools and technology.



  • Ability to respond promptly to emergency situations when required.



  • Ability to travel within assigned territories and to project locations as needed.



  • Ability to meet applicable driving requirements.



  • Ability to perform site inspections requiring walking, climbing, squatting, bending, twisting, and repetitive movement.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.



  • Ability to safely perform physical activities in active construction and project environments.




Education




  • High school diploma or GED required.



  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
