Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs that minimize occupational hazards and support regulatory compliance within Telecom and Low Voltage construction environments. This role conducts job site inspections, facilitates safety training, investigates incidents, evaluates safety data, and recommends corrective and preventive measures. The Safety Coordinator partners with operations leadership and field personnel to promote safe work practices, maintain training compliance, and address occupational safety concerns. The ideal candidate brings strong construction safety knowledge, leadership and training experience, and a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk management.

Job Responsibilities




  • Identify and evaluate workplace conditions that could result in accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses, or financial losses.



  • Assess the potential severity of injuries and losses associated with workplace hazards and incidents.



  • Develop and implement accident prevention, loss control, and risk management programs for integration into operational practices.



  • Coordinate safety activities across business operations to support consistent implementation of safety policies and procedures.



  • Compile, analyze, and interpret safety data related to exposure factors, injuries, illnesses, incidents, and regulatory standards.



  • Prepare safety reports and communicate findings to appropriate operational and leadership personnel.



  • Recommend process, equipment, and work practice improvements to reduce employee exposure to occupational hazards.



  • Inspect job sites, facilities, tools, and equipment to identify hazards and verify compliance with applicable safety regulations.



  • Investigate work-related accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.



  • Review plans and specifications to determine whether applicable safety requirements have been addressed.



  • Document and communicate findings from accident investigations and job site inspections.



  • Evaluate corrective actions taken in response to safety and health inspection findings or violations.



  • Maintain and apply current knowledge of safety policies, regulations, standards, and operational processes.



  • Conduct or facilitate safety training for supervisors, field personnel, and other employees.



  • Administer safety training requirements and monitor compliance with established training policies.



  • Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks with supervisors and field leadership to discuss standards, cited violations, lessons learned, potential hazards, and corrective actions.



  • Mentor employees on safe work practices and support corrective actions when necessary.



  • Collaborate with operations teams and field leadership to resolve occupational safety concerns and promote a strong safety culture.




Job Requirements




  • 3-5 years of related safety experience in a construction or field-based environment; 5 years of safety management experience is preferred.



  • Demonstrated leadership experience and experience conducting or facilitating safety training.



  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, occupational hazards, and applicable safety regulations.



  • Experience conducting job site inspections, incident investigations, hazard assessments, and corrective action follow-up.



  • Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and prepare clear reports and recommendations.



  • Current OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 training/certification is preferred.



  • Current certification, or active pursuit of certification, through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is preferred, including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).



  • Strong communication, training, problem-solving, and organizational skills.



  • Ability to work effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and operations leadership.



  • Ability to stand and walk throughout job sites for extended periods during the workday.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Primarily an onsite position, with approximately 90% of work performed in the field and 10% in an office setting as operational needs require.



  • Ability to report onsite as needed based on project and business requirements.



  • Travel may be required periodically to support job sites and operational needs.
