Position Description

This position provides direction and leadership to support groups and those within his/her area of responsibility to ensure the proper fulfillment of customer orders. This position improves the business and creates an engaged culture by implementing Toyota Production System (TPS) principles and Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) practices to improve Safety/5S, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance

Grows team member skills and abilities, continuously improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Builds a safe, positive, accountable, and rewarding team environment with high employee morale, retention, and energetic employee engagement. Ensures that employees feel valued and respected and understand how they can have an impact at CDI.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensures that all required resources (staffing, equipment, methods, information and materials) are present to produce the required output.
  2. Works with all required resources to create a level-loaded, mixed-model schedule based on customer demand.
  3. Collaborates with other functions as needed to ensure successful order fulfillment and to communicate progress.
  4. Establishes a lean future-state vision for his/her processes that aligns with corporate strategy. Sets SQDC improvement goals and takes action to achieve those goals.
  1. Posts and monitors SQDC measurements to provide visual trends of progress against goals and objectives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  1. Eliminates production abnormalities by taking immediate stop-gap measures such as employing required support groups, recording critical data, and driving root-cause identification and elimination.
  2. Drives standard operations by ensuring all members have access to and are properly trained in standard operations. Ensures that all members adhere to standard work and implement improvements to standard operations daily.
  3. Supports process and product development efforts by participating in and leading projects and Kaizen teams to establish new or improved capabilities.
  4. Strives for a daily personal schedule allocation of 10% administrative, 30% teaching/training, 10% audit, 10% order management and 40% improvement activity.

Provide strong leadership:

  1. Conducts daily startup meetings to review SQDC performance.
  2. Establishes short and long term performance goals.
  3. Reviews initiative status and communicate issues.
  4. Creates a winning team spirit.
  5. Provides continuous feedback to members regarding their personal performance and reward or discipline accordingly.
  6. Increases the team's skill depth through use of cross-training matrices, development goal setting, Training Within Industry Job Instruction (TWI-JI) methods, and task rotation.
  7. Understands the goals and potential of each person within their span of care, and coaches and facilitates their development in order maximize their potential.
  8. Listens and responds to needs.
  9. Ensures that all team members act in accordance with company values and policies.
  10. Interviews and selects individuals well-suited to CDI's mission and ensures they are properly on-boarded.
  11. Ensures the proper administration of all personnel related documents and processes such as performance reviews and management, advancement and wage rates, timekeeping and time off.
  12. Collaborates with fellow supervisors, support groups and other leaders as a business partner, doing what is needed to ensure the fulfillment of customer needs and organizational goals.

Required Education & Qualifications
Education:
  1. Degree in a business, technical, or relevant field or the equivalent in experience.
Experience:
  1. Proven experience leading people in a team environment.
  2. 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.

Capabilities:

  1. Strong leadership, training, and coaching skills to help people learn, grow, and improve performance.
  2. Demonstrated experience leading a team to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost improvements within a manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to communicate in a strong and compelling manner that builds understanding and commitment to business goals through use of presentations and other communication tools.
  5. Results oriented.
  6. Excellent mechanical and problem solving skills.
  7. Advanced computer skills, including ERP systems and MS Office Applications.
