Accountant

General Purpose:

SEMO Tank has an immediate opening for an experienced Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll support a variety of accounting functions, including monthly financial reporting, general ledger activities, account reconciliations, lease administration, budgeting, fixed assets, expense allocations, and financial analysis. We're looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working collaboratively, solving problems, and using financial information to help drive business decisions.

SEMO Tank is part of Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a farmer-owned dairy cooperative. SEMO Tank specializes in the sale, lease, repair, and maintenance of tank trailers and provides a broad inventory of related parts. What You'll Do

As an Accountant, you will:

• Participate in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial results, including drafting internal financial statements, preparing account reconciliations, and recording journal entries and reclassifications as needed
• Prepare lease contracts for tank-trailer customers, ensuring contracts are completed accurately and on time while maintaining effective communication with customers and internal partners
• Support SEMO management throughout the fixed asset procurement process
• Maintain accurate fixed asset documentation and reporting in accordance with company policies
• Partner with inventory personnel to enter cycle counts, record inventory adjustments, and prepare reports related to inventory activity
• Assist with the annual budgeting process and monthly budget-to-actual analysis
• Support expense allocation processes at both the location and departmental levels
• Create, update, and maintain key business metrics for timely distribution to management, helping support business analysis and decision-making
• Demonstrate the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred
• 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system; SAP experience is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Ability to effectively prioritize, plan, and organize workload
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
• Ability to review and monitor your own work to ensure accuracy
• Professional and approachable communication style when working with customers, vendors, management, and other team members
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
