Job Description

Join our busy Sleep Center and build your career in sleep medicine while working closely with experienced Registered Sleep Technologists and board certified Sleep Medicine physicians. In this role, you will receive hands on training and work under medical supervision for up to 1638 hours, or until you obtain registration through the BRPT or ABSM.

You will gain valuable experience performing overnight polysomnograms and other complex sleep procedures while developing the knowledge and skills needed to provide exceptional care to our patients. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about patient care, enjoys learning, and wants to grow in the field of sleep medicine.

What You Will Do
  • Create a welcoming, customer friendly environment where patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their Sleep Center experience

  • Perform overnight polysomnograms and other Sleep Center tests while maintaining a high standard of quality and service

  • Work closely with Registered Sleep Technologists and Sleep Medicine physicians while developing your clinical skills and expertise

  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve testing processes, patient experiences, and the services provided by the Sleep Center

  • Establish and follow appropriate safety precautions to protect patients, visitors, and staff throughout the delivery of care

  • Actively pursue registration in polysomnography with the expectation of successfully obtaining registry within 6 months of moving into this position

  • Support quality improvement initiatives, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through daily department operations and personal performance

  • Provide age appropriate care by demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to meet each patients physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs

  • Represent the organization with a courteous, helpful, and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, visitors, employees, medical staff members, and others

  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines, and standards related to your role and perform all duties in accordance with the Corporate Compliance Plan

  • Follow the Code of Conduct and all Corporate Compliance Plans, policies, and procedures, including required training

  • Participate in compliance activities as directed by the Department Manager and Corporate Compliance Officer

What You Bring (Minimum Requirements)
  • High School diploma or GED

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer knowledge

  • Current BCLS certification, maintained throughout employment

  • Completion of one of the following educational pathways

  • A STAR designated Self Study education program

  • A polysomnography education program accredited by CAAHEP or CoARC

  • A respiratory therapy program

  • Successful completion of all requirements for the polysomnography registry examination and successful attainment of registry in polysomnography within 6 months

Preferred Qualifications
  • RPSGT or RST eligible

  • CNA, PCT or PCTA, RMA, CMA, NRCMA, or another BRPT accepted allied health credential

  • One or more years of clinical experience providing direct patient care

  • Experience with sleep data collection, CPAP titration, scoring, and sleep stage recognition

  • Experience performing Multiple Sleep Latency Tests and Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests
