The initial focus of the position will be decreasing and preventing hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) through process improvement.

The future scope will encompass global patient care improvements in the AK region.

Hours: Full Time (40 Hours Weekly) Day Shift

This position supports the organization's Risk Management/ Patient Safety program through investigation and analysis of potential and actual adverse events, claims, and regulatory compliance and accreditation related occurrences or deficiencies, participation in Root Cause and Intense Analyses, and relevant committee attendance. Performs risk analysis in order to maintain protection of organization's assets; Investigates any incidences that may result in asset loss; and compiles findings in reports for further review, along with actual or potential injury to patients and visitors, collecting information necessary to prepare for defense of claim.

The Risk/Patient Safety Specialist develops and administers programs and interventions that support a safe environment and high quality care for patients of PSJH organizations within the Alaska Region. This position promotes and models high reliability and performance improvement initiatives and projects throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Discipline or health care related field or quivalent educ/experience
  • RN
  • Upon hire: Alaska Registered Nurse License (Vendor Managed)
  • 5 years Healthcare related experience in a responsible position requiring contact with various departments. Two of the five years required must be clinical patient facing experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Upon hire: Certification as Healthcare Quality Professional or Healthcare Risk Management Professional or able to obtain within 3 years of hire.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Related Risk experience
