Position Summary

The Field Supervisor is responsible for managing all work completed by fiber subcontractors and overseeing all aspects of assigned fiber construction projects. This position ensures subcontractors meet company expectations for safety, quality, and production while maintaining schedules and customer requirements. The Field Supervisor plays a key role in coordinating daily field operations, resolving challenges, and delivering successful fiber network installations.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage all work performed by fiber subcontractors on assigned projects
  • Ensure adherence to project plans, timelines, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Monitor subcontractor performance related to safety, workmanship, and productivity
  • Report progress, performance concerns, and operational issues to management
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to subcontractors and internal field staff
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and subcontractors, addressing concerns and understanding project requirements and expectations
  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance at all job sites
  • Implement corrective actions and emergency response procedures when necessary
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency
  • Manage resources including subcontractor crews, equipment, materials, and project budgets
  • Recognize and address operational risks, challenges, and obstacles in the field
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to field activities, safety incidents, production, and performance

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fiber construction field operations, supervision, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of fiber network construction including underground, aerial, splicing, and network design
  • Ability to read and interpret fiber construction prints, plans, and specifications
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices
  • Experience with project management software and field reporting tools preferred
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
