- Maintenance Technician
- Starting Pay: $33.68 per hour
- $.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts
- 8-hour shifts
Why Join Our Team At our Avon Mill, we produce 50 lb. bags of flour that are distributed to restaurants, cruise ships, hotels, schools, as well as Betty Crocker dry mix pouches. Our plant is unique in that we have two product platforms: flour and dry mixes. The flour we produce is integrated into our Betty Crocker mixes (cookies, brownies, muffins, pizza crust, biscuits). We are a small plant with a great culture where you will get to know the people you work with. Fun facts about Avon are that we produce an average of 1.1 million pounds of flour a day and about 100 million Betty Crocker pouches a year. When making our chocolate chip cookie mix, around 2000 pounds of chocolate is added per hour to the packaging line! What We Have to Offer

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information
- 8-hour shifts
- 2nd shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
- 3rd shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Currently hiring for 2nd shift and/or 3rd shift dependent upon business need
- Training will be on 1st shift (7 am to 3 pm) for up to 6 months (possibly sooner, dependent upon training needs) and then transfer to assigned shift
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, holidays, an occasional Saturday and/or Sunday, including 4 hours prior to or over scheduled shift, when business need dictates
- Plant operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES As part of our manufacturing team, you will:
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on processing and packaging equipment to improve reliability and operational performance
- Understanding and following all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools and equipment
- Identifying/diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, electrical and/or electronic issues
- Management of work orders, parts requisition, and data entry through understanding and use of Maximo Maintenance Management System
- Providing technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modification
- Understanding, initiating, and participating in Root Cause Analysis (Why, Why)
- Performing both uptime and down time preventative maintenance
- Effectively communicate and productively interact with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors, vendors, visitors, etc.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
- Assist in training new employees
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)
- 1 to 2 years (minimum) of experience industrial maintenance or related industry experience
- Working knowledge of PLC's, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and as a team with flexibility to quickly shift work priorities
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
- Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions
- Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
- Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards
- Ability to wear such as protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net, gloves, and face masks (when required)
- Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in repairing and troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems, reading schematics and using electrical testing equipment strongly preferred
- Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc.) preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred
