Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, administering, and overseeing safety programs that minimize occupational hazards and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations within the telecommunications and low voltage construction industry. This role conducts job site inspections, leads safety training initiatives, investigates workplace incidents, analyzes safety trends, and partners with operations teams to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The Safety Coordinator proactively identifies risks, develops corrective actions, and ensures employees adhere to established safety policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities




  • Identify and evaluate workplace conditions that could result in accidents, injuries, or financial losses.



  • Assess the potential severity of workplace hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.



  • Develop and implement accident prevention and loss control programs that support organizational safety objectives.



  • Coordinate and oversee safety initiatives to ensure consistent implementation across operations.



  • Compile, analyze, and interpret safety statistics related to injuries, illnesses, incidents, and regulatory compliance.



  • Conduct routine job site inspections to identify hazards and verify compliance with applicable safety standards.



  • Inspect facilities, tools, equipment, and work practices to ensure safe operating conditions.



  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.



  • Review construction plans and project specifications to verify compliance with safety requirements.



  • Document and communicate findings from incident investigations and site inspections.



  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to address safety violations.



  • Maintain current knowledge of safety regulations, industry standards, and operational best practices.



  • Conduct and facilitate safety training programs for supervisors, field personnel, and new employees.



  • Monitor compliance with required safety training and certification programs.



  • Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks to discuss safety standards, lessons learned, identified hazards, and regulatory requirements.



  • Mentor employees and recommend corrective actions when safety expectations are not met.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role within construction, telecommunications, or a related industry.



  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulatory compliance.



  • Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits, and hazard assessments.



  • Ability to interpret safety regulations and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.



  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard safety reporting documentation.



  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.



  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred.



  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.



  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification preferred.



  • BCSP certification preferred for projects requiring specialized compliance.



  • Ability to stand and walk throughout active construction job sites for extended periods.



  • Ability to work safely in active construction environments while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).




Education




  • High school diploma or equivalent required.



  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:00 AM start time.



  • Overtime and weekend work are required based on project demands.



  • Travel is not required for this position.
