Job Title: Network Engineer - Ship Board Location(s): Miami, FL (Hybrid: must be able to visit the client office) Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer - Shipboard to design, implement, and support enterprise shipboard and shoreside network infrastructure. This role is responsible for evaluating business and operational requirements, developing scalable and resilient network solutions, and leading the deployment of advanced networking technologies across the fleet. The position requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and IT leadership to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing network operations. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, plan, engineer, and design shipboard and shoreside LAN, WAN, wireless, and satellite network infrastructure.
- Design, configure, and implement network solutions supporting fleet expansion, vessel upgrades, newbuilds, and drydock projects.
- Lead network project planning, staging, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BoMs) and manage projects through the complete implementation lifecycle.
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Evaluate enterprise networking technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements.
- Establish and maintain network architecture standards and technical documentation.
- Configure and support Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, cloud, and hybrid networking environments.
- Utilize monitoring and management platforms such as Cisco DNA Center and related tools to maintain network health.
- Perform preventive maintenance, software upgrades, and infrastructure patching.
- Troubleshoot complex shipboard network incidents and serve as a senior escalation resource.
- Support change management activities for shipboard, cloud, and data center services.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee third-party resources supporting network projects.
- Maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies for critical infrastructure.
- Develop operational procedures and documentation for standardized fleetwide network operations.
- Travel internationally (30-35%) to support shipboard deployments, drydocks, fleet upgrades, and new vessel implementations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5-7 years of enterprise network engineering and administration experience.
- Strong experience configuring and managing:
- Enterprise routers and switches
- Wireless infrastructure
- Firewalls
- Voice over IP (VoIP)
- Cloud and hybrid networking environments
- Internet proxy technologies
- Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure in complex operational environments.
- Maritime or cruise industry experience is preferred.
Required Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Strong switching expertise including VLANs, STP, trunking, and MPLS.
- Extensive Cisco enterprise networking experience.
- Experience with Cisco ACI, Software Defined Access (SDA), and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Aruba wireless technologies including Controllers, ClearPass, and AirWave.
- Fortinet security platforms including FortiGate, FortiAuthenticator, and FortiAnalyzer.
- Experience supporting cloud, hybrid, and on-premises networking environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mission-critical production environments.
- Experience leading infrastructure deployment and network modernization projects.
- Knowledge of satellite communications and enterprise network integration.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Travel
