The Technical Advisor (TA) is a systems administrator responsible for administering and maintaining the operational sites with consistent configurations within a secure, MILSATCOM environment. This position maintains standardized system configurations, supports day-to-day operations, troubleshoots complex technical issues, and collaborates with engineering teams to deploy new capabilities while ensuring mission availability and system security.

• Maintain and monitor baseline configurations across multiple system sites, ensuring consistency, stability, and compliance with operational standards.
• Provide day-to-day system administration support for both Windows and Linux environments, including patching, account management, and service monitoring.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues impacting system performance or availability
• Deploy, configure, and support COTS applications, custom-developed software, and satellite-specific data products across operational environments
• Collaborate with engineering, deployment, and cybersecurity teams to implement upgrades, security enhancements, and new mission capabilities

• The position requires an active Security+ Certificate with CE and a minimum SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in space operations/IT/Systems Administration or a bacheloris degree in a relevant field.
• The role requires the ability to travel for up to two weeks per year (less than 5% of the time) and be physically present at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB) five days a week.
• Due to the 24/7 operational environment, occasional on-call support is required.
• Favorable adjudication of TS/SCI is required to remain in role.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• A strong background in maintaining and sustaining IT systems is preferred, particularly in an operational and/or test environment.
• Familiarity with system administration, troubleshooting, and deployment processes
• Experience working with technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, Java/C++, Networking/Cisco, Linux, Windows, Active Directory, Docker/Kubernetes, NAS/SAN, VMware, and Ansible
• Candidates with a system deployment/operations/test background who can apply their expertise to system administration, sustainment, and troubleshooting
• Experience with CCS-C and associated satellite systems is highly desirable.
• Articulate technical concepts orally and in written forms both internally to the team as well as externally to the government.
• Comfortable supporting Engineering, Development, Test, and Cybersecurity activities

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000
