Public Safety Ambassadors, also known as security officers, protect and guard University property; maintain order among the public and UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts; and perform other related duties as required. Note: We are offering a $500, new hire sign-on bonus for those who have not been employed with a UC in the last 12 months. High school diploma or GED. Valid California Driver's License. Excellent customer service and effective problem-solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English. Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies, and the ability to make sound judgments. Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability. Requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting for extended periods; the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; carrying and lifting 21-30 pounds; gripping and grasping; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; and the ability to run short distances. General PC knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Current C.P.R. certification (within 6 months of hire). Basic First Aid certification (within 6 months of hire). CPI de-escalation training (within 6 months of hire). AED training (within 6 months of hire). Clery training (within 6 months of hire). The ability to work variable hours and days of the week, onsite in San Francisco.
