Hallmark's Editorial team plays a critical role in bringing products to life. We create thousands of cards every year, plus stationery, gifts, ornaments, books, calendars, and more. WHAT YOU'LL DO & HOW IT SHAPES OUR SUCCESS

As a Creative Product Editor, you must be curious, creative, and skilled at identifying compelling copy that brings our strategies and our brands to life and translates to sales. We're looking for a quick study who will be a sponge soaking up internal systems, industry standards and our consumer. You must be adept at interpreting strategy; translating research, consumer insights and trends into fresh, effective copy for a wide range of products; and flexing your skills as needed across shelf, packaging, and promotional writing. We're looking for someone with an excellent command of written craft, from verse to prose and short- to long-form editorial, who thrives in fast-paced environments that demand creativity, flexibility, organization, detail-orientation, and collaboration.

As a Creative Product Editor, you will:



  • Create memorable, emotionally relevant editorial that helps Hallmark stand out as the leader in social connecting, gifting, and memory-keeping
  • Work closely and collaboratively within a team environment to inspire, create, and editorially direct the development of both seasonal and everyday product
  • Create trend-inspired, highly saleable products for a range of ages, relationships, and occasions



Core responsibilities:



  • Edit, write, and curate compelling, relevant, on-strategy, relationship-right editorial solutions for targeted product offerings
  • Collaborate with editorial director, art director, and design partners to create cohesive products that meet targeted strategies
  • Collaborate with internal Writing and Trends Studios to stay on the leading edge of voices and trends
  • Deliver a range of emotional tones and product needs, from casual to heartfelt, and from secular to religious; appreciation for a broad range of Christian faith expressions is beneficial
  • As needed for role, create meaningful storytelling through sound using dialogue, effects, and music to create conceptual total packages that meet the consumer need
  • Support creative strategy and concept development through editorial and conceptual exploration, and through packaging, catalog, or marketing/promotions as needed
  • Capture detailed product information to complete handoffs on time and error-free
  • Review and analyze product performance
  • Continually manage multiple programs with overlapping deadlines This position reports to a Studio Editorial Director.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following are required to be considered for this role:



  • Bachelor's Degree in major such as English, Journalism, or Communications or 4 years of professional experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience editing, copy editing or proofreading
  • Experience creating and editing written content across a variety of formats and audiences
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume will stand out if you have the following:



  • A portfolio that demonstrates excellent copywriting skills, strong conceptual and critical thinking skills, copy/design match and consumer target match
  • A. or B.S. in Advertising, Communication, Journalism, English, Marketing or other related field
  • At least two years of experience in related field such as advertising, publishing, TV, film, social media, or product development
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines (e.g. design, marketing, editorial, product development)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including grammar, spelling and punctuation)
  • Consumer-focused, emotionally intelligent, and strategic
  • Resourceful, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving, often-ambiguous environment

  • This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, giving you the best of both worlds: collaborating in person at Headquarters in Kansas City, MO and enjoying the flexibility of working remotely.
